The amiable singer and guitarist, Trinidad Lopez III, made his recording debut in 1958 with The Right To Rock. As Trini Lopez, he became famous worldwide in the 1960s and drew on his Mexican heritage for a series of live LPs for Frank Sinatra’s Reprise label. Trini was one of the first artists to help popularise what we know today as ‘world music’, although he is best remembered for his high-energy, Latin-styled material. He began recording during the rock & roll crazy 1950s, and formed his first band when he was only 15 and living in Wichita Falls. Early examples of Trini’s rock & roll years can be found on this comprehensive Very Best Of compilation.
