Riverside Records, during its ten-year history, established itself as one of the most important of all the specialist jazz record labels to emerge in post-war America. With a roster that included Cannonball Adderley, Johnny Griffin, Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery and Thelonious Monk, Riverside was perceived as a byword for quality and deemed a rival to Blue Note and Prestige. It closed in 1964. This is their soulful legacy.
