The music on this release comes from the period, as Fifties gave way to Sixties, when John Coltrane was looking to move on from his employment with Miles Davis and the productive aftermath of making that move. The 'Coltrane Jazz' album was mainly recorded during his stay in the Davis group, 'Africa/Brass' emerging over twelve months after his momentous decision. These two CDs of remastered music represent essential listening created in contrasting settings.
